Eau Claire Anesthesiologists was originally formed in 1956 by two anesthesiologists, Dr. Harold Thimke and Dr. Robert Bjurstrom.  They came to Eau Claire to start their practice of anesthesiology and together they formed Eau Claire Anesthesiologists.  As the years passed and the community of Eau Claire grew, so did ECA.  By 1986, ECA had increased in size to not only nine anesthesiologists but the seven Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA’s) originally employed by the two hospitals in Eau Claire joined the group to form the care team that is still in place today.

 The group has grown over the years and in addition to providing anesthesia services at both Sacred Heart Hospital and Luther Hospital, we also provide anesthesia services at Oak Leaf Surgical Hospital.  We have continued to use the team approach to anesthesia care and we are proud

to offer the best care possible to each and every patient we see.

 We look forward to another 50 years of providing the best anesthesia care possible to the residents of Eau Claire and the Chippewa Valley!
